I went to the Salton Sea this morning with Mike Uriell and Charlotte Cannor and the timing was great. Arrived just as the sun was coming up. It was cold, about 37 degrees but warmed up quickly to 67 degrees with some 8 to 10 mph cold wind from the north. I was working with the Canon 6D and Tamaron 28-300 new edition lens. All these images were taken with this lens. Mike had his new Nikon D750 and several lenses. I must say I am very impressed with the features on the Nikon camera. Very easy to use and has level horizon info in the viewfinder. The Jpgs on the tilt LCD screen looked very good. Will have to see how the raw files pass through CaptureOne software. Mike is having problems converting the NEF files in PS or CaptureOne and the DNG processing is way off from being good.
The Salton Sea is extremely low water due to the drought. The lake bed was very mushy and sticky due to the recent rain that fell there. It was impossible to drive off the paved roads with out getting stuck in the soil. The only good thing is the lack of pesky flies and mosquitos that are a constant nuisance in the warmer months.
Here are few image for you to look at from this adventure.
