Photography in Paradise

peeking from behind the sensor

I just finished judging the first part of the San Diego County Del mar Fair photo contest. This is the 4 largest contest of it’s kind. Some great images show up here but there are many that could have made it into the show but the photographers just don’t know how to prepare their images.

My good friend David King (Photo professor at SD City College) and I have been judging this contest since the 1980’s. Now that digital photography has found it’s foothold there are more entries that ever but the same errors in presentation remain.

David posted a good synopsis of the errors we see every year. You should take time to read his blog entry it you are putting your images out for other to lo0k at your work as well as entering contests.

Check it out here:  http://ndktravels.wordpress.com/2013/04/29/judging-at-the-san-diego-fair-2013/

You will gani a lot of good advice.

After the judging I took a short break to photograph the Amtrak tran the passes to the west of the fair grounds. I was testing the Tamaron 28-300 lens on a Canon 5DMK2. I like this lens.
