Photography in Paradise

peeking from behind the sensor

I woke up to thunder and lightening this morning around 6am. Jumping out of bed I dressed quickly and grabbed the car keys and headed to Torrey Pines beach where I could get a wide view of the storm. It was awesome to see the super low tide and intense sky reflecting in the standing water. The surf was almost non existent and there was very little wind but it was raining huge drops and the lightening was all around me. I had to think twice about getting out of the car and taking images of the storm. I could not resist and picked up the camera and ventured into the storm. I wondered about the fisherman in the surf line with his poles sticking upward as lightening rods if he realized that he might attract a flashing bolt. None the less I figure it would hit him before me. OK not sound reasoning but I want to get the images. The clouds only lasted about 15 minutes before their texture diminished.

Here is the collection from this morning and I hope you can understand why I took the chance to capture the storm with my camera. If you like the images let me know.
