When winter descends on the Mono Basin, the rest of the world seems to disappear. The fog settles in, the roads are more difficult to navigate, and the only sounds outside are the chirping of birds and the disturbing hum of the snowplow.
I saw very few cars on my trek throughout the fog even thought the main highway was clear of snow and ice. The air temperature was a chilly 21 degrees F but there was no wind.
